Tour and Party

Version City Party is now on the road!

Since its start in the mid-90’s at the old Coney Island High club on St. Mark’s Place in New York’s East Village, the Version City Party has been one of the core events of the east coast ska/rocksteady/reggae/dub scene. Through several different incarnations focusing on live music, selectors and “deejays” and long residencies at different clubs, the party has always fostered a dialogue between different aspects of this diverse musical community.  Inspired by the Jamaican “dance” culture and conversations with elder Jamaican musicians, particularly Roland Alphonso, Laurel Aitken and others, the Version City party is all about uniting people in a fun atmosphere while preserving the real vibes and essence of Jamaican roots music and “spreading it around.”
